“I have watched several groups of students make up games about the mural where it is encouraging imaginative play. Some groups of students pretend they are in the jungle, one group was on a boat traveling through the water, and others use it as a place to meet up at. I know some of the teachers in the modulars use it as a point of reference for students to take a quick movement break. They will tell the student to run to one of the butterflies and then back to class. It also just feels so calming and makes me smile each time I go outside.”

Ash Creek Elementary School
Murals are my preferred medium because I love how they can be used to physically transform a huge space and improve the community’s perception of that space. Murals are a beautiful way to build communities, fill buildings with color and life, and celebrate creativity.

I aim to create large-scale murals with bright and playful colors, dynamic compositions, and abstract yet identifiable shapes, usually including natural and floral elements.

Process
I create the mural designs digitally using Adobe Illustrator so that I can make changes to the composition and incorporate client feedback. Using Adobe Photoshop, I superimpose my drawings onto images of the walls where the murals will be located. This allows me to visualize how the designs might look to scale and see the work come to life!
When the designs are finished, I transfer them onto the wall using a grid method and start the painting process.
